Stratos Optical Technologies continues to introduce product extensions to its line of optical transceivers. The latest new product line is a family of miniature transceivers.
This form factor provides network equipment designers a high-performance, ultra-compact outline solution for high data rates of up to 4Gb/s. The family initially consisted of 850nm solutions for the Fibre Channel and GigE markets, as well as a 1310nm solution to address long-wave GigE requirements. Stratos will soon be releasing other members into this product line, offering solutions from OC3 to OC48, and custom solutions for requirements outlined by clients (e.g. dual receiver). These transceivers are fully compliant with the IEEE Ethernet and ANSI Fibre Channel standards, but can be used for other data communications within their operating parameters.
This new series of mini transceivers enables system designers and OEMs to leverage the advantages of a small footprint alternative to MSA telecom transceivers in situations where weight and overall equipment size is constrained.
