At NAB2007 (booth # SU8905), Pharos Communications will demonstrate the latest additions to its Mediator broadcast workflow management system.
Mediator is a modular system that can be customized to a broadcaster's individual requirements and expanded as needed. It offers ingest, quality control, editing, compliance, online storage, archiving and transcoding in a singe, integrated system.
The Mediator uses an intuitive, Web-based user interface to operate all of the information required for each process, from program acquisition to playout. Once a task is completed, the digital file is automatically delivered to the next operator in the right format. Content is forwarded for transmission at preselected times with automatic alerts if any items are missing from the playlist before they go to air.
Based on standard IT platforms and networked digital storage with a high level of redundancy, the Mediator is easy to monitor and maintain. All source material is converted into a digital file on first arrival using Mediator's comprehensive suite of ingest tools. This removes the problem of lost tapes and immediately makes the resultant files available to every user, effectively sharing material that previously could only be accessed by the tape holder.
