Solera Networks announces advanced deep packet inspection and capture solution for 10Gb networks

Solera Networks has announced the availability of the DS 5100 series of capture and stream-to-storage appliances capable of lossless, deep packet capture and recording of fully saturated 10Gb networks.

The DS series is a line of high-performance appliances, including software-only virtual appliances, which capture, record and archive 100 percent of network traffic at speeds of up to 10Gb/s. Captured traffic is written to a scalable, disk-based cache system and presented in PCAP (an application programming interface for packet capturing) format as a virtual network interface or as regenerated network traffic. Data is then accessible to any standards-based security, forensics, compliance, analytics or network management application. Those applications can then perform their analysis on either live or stored data, with the ability to throttle or accelerate playback speeds and filter based on source/destination, protocol, time period and other variables, all without affecting the production network's performance.

Solera Networks' deep packet capture and stream-to-storage appliances are the foundation of effective layered-security solutions and provide a comprehensive network surveillance fabric. By performing complete deep packet inspection on historical data, network security analysts and network administrators can roll back the clock and analyze anomalous traffic, thereby improving all layers of security and management.

Solera Networks’ appliances act much like a DVR for the network, capturing every single packet (header and payload) that crosses the network to enable post-event analysis, remediation and prevention.
