Avastor helps UK-based Bottletop charity raise funds with music

Bottletop, a UK-based charity devoted to sexual health education and HIV prevention, has received high praise from personalities ranging from former U.S. President Bill Clinton to ex-UN Secretary General Kofi Annan for its creative approach to the non-profit sector. Its music arm initiates crosscultural collaborations, bridging the gap between exciting musical styles from across the world.
The organization has chosen Avastor’s HDX800 triple interface FireWire drives to store all of its London-based recordings for its Brazilian-influenced CD. This innovative CD will be a live recording of the Bottletop Band, which consists of high-profile artists from bands such as Good Charlotte, Reverend and the Makers, the Arctic Monkeys and Dirty Pretty Things. The band is also collaborating with Brazilian classic and contemporary musicians including the producer of the Beastie Boys, Mario Caldato.
Faced with the challenge of limited studio time and little room for error, Bottletop realized that the reliability of the equipment it used would be vital to the success of the album. “If the equipment failed, the recording would have been lost forever and the project would never have been completed,” said Oliver Wayman, director of musical operations of Bottletop. “Choosing Avastor was an easy decision. All of the studio engineers and producers I turned to agreed that there was only one brand of hard drive that was not only solid, robust and portable but would also be able to secure all of our data, and that was Avastor. As expected, the hard drive has been 100 percent effective.”
