Maine affiliate WAGM streamlines trafficking with Grass Valley K2 server

Using the latest version of Grass Valley K2 Capture Service software, the station has reduced the amount of time required to move Pathfire-delivered syndicated shows on and off the server by as much as 80 percent.

Using the latest version of Grass Valley K2 Capture Service software, the station has reduced the amount of time required to move Pathfire-delivered syndicated shows on and off the server by as much as 80 percent.

WAGM-DT, the local CBS and FOX affiliate in Presque Isle, ME, is using a four-channel, SD Grass Valley K2 media server to record and play out syndicated programming and commercial spots. The server is part of a highly automated system that manages a commercial spot from booking and playout to ultimately invoicing the advertiser.

Gordon Wark, president/general manager at NEPSK (owner of WAGM), said with the K2 server the station can bring in more content per day, which helps increase its ability to broadcast programs. This type of file-based content delivery system is now being used by a variety of broadcasters, which continue to find new and innovative ways to get more performance and value out of their server investment.

The K2 system at WAGM-DT works in tandem with a Pathfire Digital Media Gateway system and an Avid Sundance Titan automation system, which help play out programming and ads fast and efficiently.

In addition, due to new features within the latest version of K2 Capture Service software, the station has reduced the amount of time required to move Pathfire-delivered syndicated shows on and off the server by as much as 80 percent.
