Broadcaster chooses Enterprise sQ for quality, speed and Stereo3D

Hunan TV, China’s premier entertainment television channel, has purchased a third Quantel Enterprise sQ fast-turnaround production system for its Stereo3D program production. Hunan TV, a division of the giant Hunan Broadcasting Group, has been a Quantel customer since 2008 when the broadcaster chose two Quantel Enterprise sQ systems for the production of entertainment programming. Hunan TV later upgraded to a full HD workflow in 2010.

Sky News uses Viz Content Pilot for real-time, 3-D-animated news openers

A new 3net Studios division will build on its library of native 3-D content that 3net has been producing for its 24-hour 3-D channel since its launch in 2011.

3net is not waiting around for others and will produce its own original content in the 3-D and 4K formats.

WORLD EDITION EXCLUSIVE: I have always been skeptical about stereoscopic 3-D. It seemed like a ruse to sell new TVs to consumers who already own first-generation flat-screen displays and for theater operators to hike ticket prices. Although I enjoyed “Avatar,” it was a visual experience more than a great story, and as for the budget, well, dream on if you are in television.
