Anritsu enhances handheld analyzers with HSPA+ measurement capability

Anritsu has introduced upgrades to its BTS Master MT8222A and Spectrum Master MS272xB series that expand the analyzers’ measurement capabilities of W-CDMA and HSPA signals. The option upgrades complement the handheld analyzers’ existing measurement capabilities and allow field engineers and technicians to conduct W-CDMA, HSDPA and HSPA+ measurements faster and more efficiently during the installation and maintenance of wireless networks.

With the new option upgrades, the MT8222A and MS272xB can support HSPA+ 64-QAM modulation, and a 64-QAM constellation diagram can be displayed on the respective analyzer’s measurement screen (option 65 only). The new option also adds demodulation support for QPSK-DTX (discontinuous transmission) used with AMR-WB codecs.

Over-the-air measurement capability has been enhanced with the new improvements, as well. OTA scanner measurements can be made twice as fast, and users experience improved code domain power measurement performance due to lower EVM. Additionally, more active channels can be displayed.

The new option upgrades complement the existing W-CDMA and HSDPA measurement capabilities of the MS272xB handheld spectrum analyzers and MT8222A base station analyzer. Both instruments can conduct all the major RF and demodulation measurements on W-CDMA and HSDPA OTA signals.

With sensitivity of less than or equal to –163dBm displayed average noise level typical at 1GHz, the MS272xB series can measure very low-level signals, a critical feature as the RF spectrum becomes more congested. The handheld spectrum analyzers also feature a wide dynamic range to measure very small signals, even in the presence of much larger signals.

Three models are available in the MS272xB series. Leading the way is the MS2724B, which covers 9kHz to 20GHz. Other models include the MS2721B, with frequency coverage of 9kHz to 7.1GHz, and the MS2723B, which goes up to 13GHz.
