Videotek PTM-305 gains traction in handheld test and measurement

Telecast Fiber Systems released its SCamp SMPTE cable amplifier, which allows broadcasters to extend the operating distance of their SMPTE fiber-equipped cameras from Sony and Ikegami. The SCamp is a fiber optic repeater for SMPTE 311M hybrid fiber/wire cable systems.

Similar in concept to triaxial repeaters, the SCamp is a bidirectional optical repeater that can be inserted in-line at virtually any point midpath in the hybrid cable run. The unit is powered directly by the camera's base station via the hybrid cable and displays the received optical power levels in both directions with an LED bar-graph display. The SCamp's greater optical power and increased receiver sensitivity help users to overcome the cumulative effects of aging, wear and dirt on the hybrid cable/fiber performance.
