For IBC 2012 Release
TMD boosts asset delivery capabilities with enhanced transcoding and streaming
IBC 2012, Amsterdam, 7 – 11 September, stand 2.C58:TMD, the leading provider of asset management systems for digital and physical assets, is using IBC 2012 to launch new developments for the Mediaflex Repurposing module of its asset management platform. The new capability, Mediaflex StreamCoder, creates multiple outputs while reducing cost of ownership.
Mediaflex StreamCoder is built on industry standard hardware and software, making it cost-effective and readily integrated. It provides a transcode engine to streaming formats for the web, IPTV, VoD and proxy browse environments, performing multiple transcodes simultaneously and, where required, creating live streaming.
Because it is a part of the Mediaflex workflow and tightly integrated into the asset management, Mediaflex StreamCoder also handles metadata shuffling, ensuring that feeds for each delivery format are correctly packaged without additional operator intervention. The result is a significant practical boost to efficiency in creating multi-platform media, allowing content owners to maximise access and revenue opportunities.
As well as StreamCoder, Mediaflex Repurposing now also offers integration with additional popular third-party encoding products including Snell Alchemist and Telestream Vantage. These integrations use TMD’s Unified Media Services framework (UMS), a service-oriented architecture which allows third-party APIs to be accessed through the standard Mediaflex Web Services interface. For organisations such as audiovisual archives, with a large pool of graphic content, Mediaflex Repurposing also now provides a graphics transformation and transcode engine to allow automated graphics processes to be incorporated in both ingest, archive and publishing workflows.
“An archive has no value on its own: it only comes alive when you can present the content to people,” said Tony Taylor, chairman and CEO of TMD. “These additions to Mediaflex Repurposing are all about making it easier – and therefore more cost-effective – for archives to get the content out to those who want to see and use it. Our customers told us how important this is to their operations, and we have made these developments a top priority.”
