BERGEN, Norway -- Nov. 1, 2012 -- Vimond Media Solutions today announced that Nordic pay-TV provider C More will extend its deployments of the Vimond streaming platform to deliver content to the recently announced Filmnet, a new distributor of C More Film. As part of the Swedish TV4 Group, C More already uses Vimond to power its online Web TV services C More and C Sports.

"Filmnet will enable us to offer films and TV series to a rapidly growing market, helping us to secure greater market share and giving our audience greater TV experiences," said Jan Rizvi, head of IT development at TV4. "Together with Vimond Media Solutions, we are able to keep pace with end users' expectations. Vimond's advanced knowledge of how to use technologies such as Smooth Streaming, Flash(R) HTTP, Dynamic Streaming, and HLS ensures great video quality across all screens."

Filmnet is built on the Ruby on Rails(R) open-source Web framework and launches with a new Silverlight(R) player framework built by Vimond. The player has features such as an episode chooser, clip info, language chooser for viewing and subtitling, and a streaming-quality monitor.

The advanced Vimond platform provides a comprehensive environment for managing and delivering multiformat over-the-top (OTT) services, with full facilities for all creative, logistical, and business aspects of the operation. With its modular architecture, Vimond offers sophisticated tools and controls for every aspect of an OTT service, from ingest and encoding through conditional access to business intelligence reporting.

"We've been working with TV4 and C More on other solutions for years, and now we're excited to be part of this new project to help the companies break new ground in the pan-Nordic area," said Helge Høibraaten, CEO of Vimond Media Solutions. "Working with our customers to create superior services in their market is a key motivation for us at Vimond."

Filmnet is a distributor of C More Film and allows subscribers to watch as much programming as they want for a fixed monthly rate. Filmnet offers the C More Film package, which includes national and international content from large movie studios, as well as favorites from Swedish TV4 and Svensk Filmindustri (SF). Content is easy to find, easy to access, and easy to enjoy at the Filmnet portal.

A beta version of Filmnet for Mac(R) and PC launched in Sweden on Oct. 1. An iPad(R) version is expected during the fall with other platforms to follow shortly thereafter.
