Using a Video Waveform Monitor
A one-hour course taught by Ray Handisides, consultant and trainer

Learn how to use a waveform monitor to ensure video standards compliance and high quality. The course is designed to provide an understanding of the NTSC 525-line video signal, with emphasis on the luminance component and how to display and interpret this signal. The course will introduce you to video waveform monitors and how to use them for basic signal analysis.

You will learn:

  • Principle of image scanning – horizontal and vertical

  • Interlaced scanning with frame and field concept

  • Horizontal line structure with component parts of signal

  • How to identify and measure key signal parameters

  • Introduction to Chroma signal and color burst

  • Test signals Color Bars, Ramp and Modulated Ramp, Pulse

  • Displaying VITS
