Increasing Efficiency in Digital Distribution of Media – Concurrency and Conforming

The demand for wider distribution and syndication of content brings with it the need for more efficient mechanisms to deliver content to distribution points. Fully digital distribution via terrestrial IP-based networks or satellite offers many advantages over traditional physical delivery, but technical and workflow obstacles must be overcome for these benefits to be fully realized. The challenges are compounded by the expanding and varying nature of distribution partners, with a scope much greater than earlier broadcast affiliate models, and the need to transport content over uncontrolled public networks such as the Internet. Overcoming inherent performance limitations in these networks is essential but not the only factor in increasing efficiency. New approaches to distribution systems and workflows including concurrency optimization and automated conformance to recipient specifications can help overcome these challenges.
